Adding Dimension (Part 1)

We show you how to add dimension to your cards and layouts by creating 3D flowers using our downloadable templates.

Step 1 - Use the small template from the ‘Extras’ pack to cut seven small petals out of coloured card or thick paper.

Step 2 - Once all seven petals have been cut out, ink the edges of each petal with a Black StazOn ink pad. Fold up the pointed tip of each petal, approximately 1cm from the end. Take each petal and roll the petal over your index finger or a pencil to give a more 3 dimensional effect.

Step 3 - Select the background paper to be used for the project. Measure and cut the paper to leave approximately 1cm border at the each side of the card. Ink the edges of the background paper. Apply doublesided tape to the reverse of the paper. Remove a small section of the backing of the double-sided tape for each corner and lightly adhere to your card. Once the paper has been positioned correctly secure each corner of the paper with the double-sided tape then remove the backing on the rest of the tape and secure in place.

Step 3 - Select the background paper to be used for the project. Measure and cut the paper to leave approximately 1cm border at the each side of the card. Ink the edges of the background paper. Apply doublesided tape to the reverse of the paper. Remove a small section of the backing of the double-sided tape for each corner and lightly adhere to your card. Once the paper has been positioned correctly secure each corner of the paper with the double-sided tape then remove the backing on the rest of the tape and secure in place.

Step 4 - Stamp the background paper with Smo o chi e Manoochie ‘ D o o d l e P a i s l e y ’ stamps to give a faint watermark effect. Draw flowers on the border in pencil then go over the pencil lines with a black permanent fine liner pen. Ink the edges of the whole card with a Black Staz-On ink pad.

Step 4 - Stamp the background paper with Smoochie Manoochie ‘ Doodle Paisley ’ stamps to give a Sakufaint watermark effect. Draw flowers on the border in pencil then go over the pencil lines with a black permanent fine liner pen. Ink the edges of the whole card with a Black Staz-On ink pad.

Step 5 - Colour in the flowers on the border with similar coloured Sakura Pens.

Step 6 - Create a flower stalk with green Grosgrain ribbon. Tie small strips around the ‘stalk’ to create ‘leaves’. Apply double-sided tape to the reverse of the ribbon ‘stalk’ and ‘leaves’ and adhere to card front.

Step 7 - Apply double-sided tape to the folded tip of each petal. Position each petal before removing the backing of the double- sided tape and adhering to the card front. Cut two different sized rough circles from card. Ink the edges then adhere to the centre of the flower with foam pads. Adhere the ‘Sweet Daughter’ chipboard sentiment to the card front with double-sided tape to finish the card.
