Crafting on a Budget

If you would like to give your craft projects a bespoke look like no other project, then you can use everyday items found around the house. Here I will show you how to make your own unique chipboard letters using the cardboard from a cereal box, saving you some money along the way.
Take your cereal box and draw your letters in pencil on the reverse, then cut your letters out. You may have to use a craft knife for those awkward parts of the letters, as shown here on the A and the B
Apply adhesive to the grey side of the letters. Here I have placed the letters in a Xyron machine (you can see some of the cereal box on the opposite side of the letters)
Next adhere the letters to your desired decorative paper and cut them out. Again you may have to use a craft knife for those hard to reach parts of letters A and B
Outline your letters with a light blue pen then use a black permanent fine liner pen and draw close to the edge (this doesn’t have to be exact as it adds to the character of each letter) Decorate the letters further by adding faux stitching, little bumps or a ‘track’
Finally add some colour, eyelets, ribbon and a bit of bling to finish them off
Here is another example of bespoke letters made from cereal box ‘chipboard’. These letters have been ‘sealed’ to give a glossy finish with some ‘Glossy Accents’
