Clearly Perfect Series - #1
Posted on 11 November 2008 by Fiona Haigh-Gannon
Please excuse the ‘pun’ but it is very ‘clear’ at the moment in the crafting world that any transparent or translucent item, be it crafty or not, has been attacked in the nicest sense of the word by the crafting community. These clear articles have been inked, painted, distressed, stamped on to name but a few techniques used.
In this short series we will be showing you some techniques and step by step tutorials using varying mediums to decorate transparent and translucent items.
This time we are starting off with a Decorated Glass Jar.
Step 1 - Take an empty coffee jar.
Step 2 - Cut a strip of paper to fit around the outside of the jar and adhere with double sided sticky tape.
Step 3 - Cut two lengths of co-ordinating ribbon and adhere to the top and bottom edge of the paper strip.
Step 4 - Stamp out the “Bah Humbug” sentiment and use a corner rounder on all four corners. Mat and layer it and round the corners on the outer layer too. Adhere to the paper strip on the jar.
Step 5 - Cut a circle to fit the top of the jar lid and adhere.
Step 6 - Cut a die cut shape and shadow to fit and adhere.
Step 7 - Cut a length of ribbon and adhere to the edge of the lid.
Step 8 - Add organza ribbon around the neck of the glass jar and tie in a bow. Fill jar with sweets.

Great instructions. You make it look easy enough to try. I certainly have all the supplies lying around. I may have to invent a way to seal the jar, though, so I don’t start eating the Bah Humbugs before I get them delivered.
