New Cards and Promarkers

Posted on 19 April 2010 by Tracey Grundy

On 9th April my school friend Martine, gave birth to a gorgeous little girl named Elena.  I wanted to make something for Martine as a keepsake for the birth of her daughter so having requested a photograph, I made this ‘Interlocking Card’.  You can check out the previous Interlocking Card Tutorial HERE.

I was also asked if I could make a special card for a 13th birthday and to incorporate a photograph too, if I could.  Instead of doing a ‘traditional style’ card with the photograph on the front of the card I thought I would create a template for the number ’13′ but which would be solid made from card and patterned paper.

However, I made the back of the card from acetate in the same shape as the front of the card and adhered the photograph here.  The area at the back of the photograph had some card adhered in the same shape to cover the rear of the photo and also an area to write a message.

The front of the card was finished off with a tag, a Bluebeary Hill Collection Birthday Bear and the birthday girls name, which were both hand drawn by me and coloured in with Promarker pens.  Promarkers are excellent to give a more 3D and shaded effect to an image.
